I purchased this in anticipation of getting my MacBook Pro as a college graduation present in a few months. I went from a foam based lap desk (after one horrible experience with a microbead lapdesk) to this with my large 17" Dell Inspiron. I noticed a difference immediately! Yes, my laptop stays cooler, but more importantly I stay cooler!! With the space between the legs and the iLap, it is much more comfortable. I never knew that it was uncomfortable because that was just the way things were and I had to deal with it. I am so glad I purchased this item. However, I am not sure it is worth the full retail price. I personally bought mine new off of ebay for 25 dollars. If you can, find a deal and don't hesitate on purchasing it. If you can't, weigh the options for yourself.

One down side to this is the velcro for the foam cushion is only on the bottom and I can imagine it could shift easily. Secondly, I am 5'5" and this is almost too long for my legs if I sit upright. This is an issue because of the bar that rests on the legs is pretty narrow and this is not something you have to be concerned about with a regular lapdesk. This is the only reason I docked a star. Lucky me I have horrible posture when it comes to being on my computer.

I use this when I use the laptop on my lap. It is pretty good; it's better than having a hot laptop on my lap, burning my legs. It seems to keep the computer cooler, but not a whole lot. Also this particular model fits my 17" screen laptop perfectly.

The main thing I don't like is that the front bumper has a tendency to come off if I take a deep breath or move a little. There should be a way to clamp it on or velcro it to the stand. Also there is no good way to carry the stand with the laptop still on it, when I get up from my chair. It's a little awkward carrying both pieces together.

But it serves it's purpose well, it is much more comfortable with this on my lap than the laptop by itself. Plus it makes the laptop easier to type on. It's a fine product, I recommend it.

It's pretty well made, but I certainly feel as though it's overpriced. It's the perfect size for my MBP 17" 2.6ghz. The front pad is removable, and the bottom edge of the aluminum is flat and lightly cushioned by a fuzzy strip to keep from scratching. In my lap on the couch I almost prefer doing without the front pad, as it's not really wide enough to support my forearms, and is sort of annoying as a result. The rear pad is fine, and the overall design works well to keep the laptop's temp down.

In bed it's great. I can put my knees up and the iLap rests against my legs, and the front pad keeps the laptop off my chest.

The pads themselves are velvet fabric, which is a shame. Looks lame, picks up pet hair, etc. At this price, leather would be nice. After a few months the front pillowcase stretches and the pad sags off the edge.

I'd love it if there were a decent alternative, but nothing else is close, so I'm happy to have this.
